Keeping Young Australians Reading

The Centre for Youth Literature (CYL), based at the State Library of Victoria, has released its report about reading for pleasure amongst teenagers.

Keeping Young Australians Reading builds on the CYL's 2001 report, showing changes over the last eight years. It is an important document for anyone interested in:

  • Why it is important to keep young Australian's reading,
  • Barriers to reading for pleasure and how to overcome them,
  • Trends in reading, and
  • Challenges and issues for professionals working with young people.
