Well-known Australian author Randolph Stow died in England this week at the age of 74.
Randolph Stow was born and lived in Western Australia, but has lived in England for many years. His work included novels, plays, poetry and children's books. Randolph's best known work is considered to be The Merry-Go-Round in the Sea, along with To the Islands, Tourmaline, and the children's book Midnight.
Randolph Stow won the Miles Franklin Award in 1958 for To the Islands, and the Patrick White Award in 1979.
