Taiwan Sublime photo exhibition

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia presents the Taiwan Sublime Photography and Taiwan Indigenous Culture Exhibition at Civic Library from 23 August to 30 September 2010.

Taiwan Sublime features various images captured by four Taiwanese photographers: Chen Chih-hsiung, Chi Po-lin, Liu Chen-hsiang, and Huang Ting-sheng. Chen’s photos illustrate the subtle contrast of light and dark hues which are typical in twilight scenery. Chi, on the other hand, is known for his aerial photography and various images of Taiwan’s changing landscape. Viewers who would like a taste of local Taiwanese culture will find Liu’s images of dance troupes and Huang’s snapshots of religious festivals a visual treat. Their photos encapsulate Taiwan’s landscapes, diverse cultural scenes, and different religious aspects.
In conjunction with the photos, cultural artifacts of Taiwan Indigenous people such as cloth weaving, bamboo weaving, and assorted apparel and accessories will be showcased at the exhibition.

The mix of contemporary photographs and traditional Indigenous crafts offer an opportunity for visitors to catch a glimpse of the way of life in Taiwan and to explore and appreciate the diversity of Taiwan’s culture and natural beauty.

The exhibition can be viewed at Civic Library during library opening hours until the 30 September.
