Unexpected Delight in the Records

Donor, Dr John Grey, was a senior landscape planner in the ACT over many years. He has been instrumental in ensuring the deposit of records of groups, businesses and individuals that document out created environment including the papers of the Royal Institute of Parks and Recreation ACT Region.

A worthy organisation the records of which are significant for their description, over time, of the theory and practice of creating a recreational environment in the ACT.

The records are truly a gem for the historian but that doesn’t make them a delight. The delight comes from flicking through a manuscript of draft of a plan for A Regional Park System for A.C.T. and discovering these hand drawn and coloured illustrations.

Delight in the unexpected and in the skill of an unknown hand forty years ago.
