Canberra 100 and the Welsh in Canberra

The ACT Heritage Library anticipates the 2013 Centenary year will be a busy one.  Not just with the celebrations, but with enquiries and also with deposits.

Our first "Centenary" deposit happened last week, when the Welsh Society of Canberra brought in its records for use by historians and interested members of the community and safekeeping.

The collection arrived Thursday afternoon and was ready for use by Friday morning.

Such a quick turnaround was possible because this was a planned deposit.  The Welsh Society and the staff of the ACT Heritage Library collaborated to ensure that the collection was arranged and described prior to deposit.  All that was required was to record the finding aid to the collection on the Library's website, create a catalogue entry in the Libraries ACT catalogue, and make the collection visible in Trove.
