John Mackay, Canberra Citizen of the Year 2008

John Mackay is an outstanding contributor to the Canberra community. Whether he is making high level business decisions or personally cooking thousands of sausages on Australia Day, John is highly regarded in the community for his leadership skills, his generosity ot time, his energy and his expertise.
As Chief Executive Officer of ActewAGL and Transact Communications John’s exceptional management qualities were instrumental in the success of the corporation which delivers an essential service to Canberrans. While Mr Mackay has excelled in business, it is his considerable out of hours work and personal contribution that he makes to a very wide range of community and charity causes in the ACT region including as a member of numerous boards and committees that make him one of Canberra’s finest citizens.  Included in his list of achievements is being an Honorary Ambassador for Canberra.
